About Dan

Daniel DeWoskin, the founder of DeWoskin Law Firm, LLC, has been practicing law since 2002.  He is a graduate of the Georgia State University College of Law and completed his undergraduate degrees in Communication Studies and Classics at the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina.

Dan is a past president of the DeKalb Bar Association, president-elect of the Decatur Rotary Club, an active board member of the DeKalb Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, and the current chair of the DeKalb Board of Ethics. Additionally, Dan continues to serve DeKalb County and the Atlanta metro area through a host of leadership positions and volunteer work. He is an active member in the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association (GTLA), the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL), the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA), the Lawyers Club of Atlanta, and is a graduate of the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyer’s College and Leadership DeKalb. Even before law school, Dan had a strong interest in serving his community. He was trained by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (P.O.S.T.) as a law enforcement officer, and continues to maintain his certification. He also spent time volunteering as a Fulton County Deputy Sheriff. This experience as a law enforcement officer helps Dan fully understand the criminal justice system, while most attorneys have only experienced it through secondhand reports and client testimonials.

About Alex

Alex Merritt is a partner at the DeWoskin Law Firm. He joined the firm in 2015 after four years prosecuting felony cases on behalf of the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office. Prior to working in the D.A.’s Office, Alex worked as an associate attorney at the private law firm Jones & Walden, where he focused his practice on bankruptcy and debtor-creditor litigation. Alex is an active member of the DeKalb Bar Association, the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta. He volunteers his time in DeKalb County, training students to become skilled attorneys. To that end, Alex has volunteered as a faculty member at the Emory University School of Law Kessler-Eidson Program for Trial Techniques, as a coach for the Decatur High School mock trial team, and as a judge at the Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition held annually at the DeKalb County Courthouse.   Alex earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama and his juris doctorate from the University of Arkansas School of Law.
