Daniel DeWoskin was born in Chicago, Illinois. He moved to Atlanta, Georgia when he was a child and was raised to appreciate the importance of freedom, justice, and personal responsibility. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree and the prestigious Artium Baccalaureatus Degree from the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina, where he graduated with honors. He received his Juris Doctorate from the Georgia State University College of Law.
While attending law school, Dan trained and was certified by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) as a law enforcement officer, and maintains this certification today. Dan worked for some time in a law enforcement capacity prior to his admission to the Georgia Bar so that he would better understand the enforcement side of the criminal justice system. This experience has greatly benefitted Dan in his work in the courtroom, not just in criminal defense cases but in virtually any case in which law enforcement and/or first responders have played a role.
After graduating from law school, Dan began his own firm immediately upon admission to the Georgia Bar. Early on, Dan’s practice focused on criminal defense cases, which he had a passion for and which provided extensive experience in trial work and critical case preparation. As the years passed, Dan began handling more and more personal injury matters and other cases that could benefit from his unique perspective and creative approach to trial work.
Today, Dan continues to take on certain criminal defense cases as well as representing those persons who are seriously injured or killed due to the wrongful actions of others. As graduate of the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College in 2008, Dan is closely involved with a network of other trial lawyers and specialists whose talents he readily engages for the benefit of his clients.
Dan also takes a special interest in defending consumers in debt collection lawsuits in magistrate, state and superior court throughout Georgia. He also represents consumers who have experienced harassment or abusive treatment by debt collectors in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). In 2009, a Daily Report article highlighted consumer attorney Daniel DeWoskin’s Federal case on behalf of his client involving the debt collection law firm, Frederick J. Hanna & Associates. “[Frederick J.] Hanna [& Associates] recently picked up another foe—an Atlanta attorney whose practice focuses on representing consumers in debt-collection matters.”
Daniel DeWoskin volunteers his time as a coach at the Paidiea Mock Trial program and enjoys invitations to speak to students about the law.
